Pop culture convention to roll into Kamloops in October
KAMLOOPS — Gamers, cosplayers, Bronies, nerds of all stripes — dust off your novelty dice and Magic the Gathering cards. KamCon will return to Kamloops October 28 to 30 after two years of virtual events.
New for this year’s convention is the addition of gaming tournaments. Gamers can compete in different tabletop games as well as Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.
Kamloops locals Tyler Carpentier and Julian Leader first talked about a KamCon five years ago after a gaming session with friends.
“We all loved the idea of travelling somewhere for a gaming convention and started
looking for places to go. It didn’t take long to realize that there wasn’t much in Western Canada that was affordable,” said Carpentier.
“We asked ourselves ‘…why not us?’ which launched our research into what would be required to pull this off.”
Those attending the convention can expect to see amazing costumes, too — cosplay is encouraged at fan conventions.
