Police diffuse tense situation at Lower Sahali hotel Tuesday

KAMLOOPS — One person has been taken into custody after a weapons call in Lower Sahali Tuesday afternoon (April 29).
RCMP were called to the Ramada Inn on Columbia Street West at Pemberton Terrace at about 3:00 p.m., after receiving a report of a person who was experiencing a mental health crisis while armed with a gun.
“Members of the SED ERT were fortunately nearby and were able to quickly deploy to assist, due to the high-risk nature of the report,” said detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.
The situation wrapped up just after 5:00 p.m. when police safely apprehended one man.
