Colombo Lodge stepping up to support Kamloops non-profits
KAMLOOPS – The historic Colombo Lodge is offering a new initiative to help support local non-profits.
“We are very well-known for our delicious Italian dinners,” general manager Roberta Moroni says in a news release. “However, up until now, the only way people got to enjoy them was to attend an event at our hall. We have now created Colombo Cares – Take Home Dinners.”
The dinners will take place on the third Wednesday of each month, September to June, from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the lodge’s hall on Lorne Street.
Proceeds from the dinners will be distributed to different non-profits throughout the Kamloops area. The benefactor for the inaugural event is Kamloops Hospice, and takes place Sept. 18.
The lodge will also create a bank of funds which can be quickly accessed during emergencies, such as helping the victims and volunteers of wildfires.
Meals must be pre-ordered on the Colombo Lodge website, and there will be a limited amount of food for drop-ins who want to pay at the door.
For the meals themselves, $25 will get you pasta for two with homemade tomato meat sauce, and a monthly revolving protein choice of roast chicken, meatballs, roasted ribs or grilled Italian sausages.
